DAY 05: VIRGINIA (B, D) - SCENIC DRIVE TO LURAY CAVERN - MONTICELLO
We will leave in the morning for Virginia. Upon our arrival at this scenic state, we will head to Virginia's beautiful Shenandoah Valley to visit Luray Caverns. The caverns are perhaps best known for the Great Stalactite Organ, a lithophone made from solenoid fired strikers that tap stalactites of various sizes to produce tones similar to those of xylophones, tuning forks, or bells. Then, we will travel to the Natural Bridge. Natural Bridge is referenced in "Moby Dick" and called by Thomas Jefferson "the most sublime of nature's works," . The rock arch has a 90-foot span. By the hundreds of years, Virginia's Natural Bridge has been fascinated more than millions of travelers all over the world. We continue our tour to the mountain-top home, gardens, and plantation of Thomas Jefferson, third president of the United States. Monticello was designed and redesigned, and built and rebuilt for more than 40 years. Jefferson described the house as his “essay in architecture.” Today, it is recognized as an international treasure. We can have lunch at Michie Tavern. Built in 1784 and a superb example of the 1920's preservation movement, famed Michie Tavern offers an exciting historical experience and wonderful food in a rustic atmosphere. Overnight at hotel in Williamsburg, VA where we arrive late in the evening.

DAY 06: JAMESTOWN, VA (B) - WILLIAMSBURG, VA – YORKTOWN, VA
We leave hotel in the morning for fascinating tour through Colonial Williamsburg's Historic Area in Virginia. First we visit Jamestown Settlement and learn about the English colonization of American and the formation of the Virginia Company. Outdoor living-history areas bring the 17th century to life and include a re-created Powhatan Indian Village, full-size replicas of the three ships - Susan Constant, Discovery and Godspeed, a riverfront discovery area, and recreated James Fort. Then we go back to Williamsburg. From 1699 to 1780, Williamsburg was the political and cultural center of Britain's largest colony in the New World. In the taverns and government buildings George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, George Mason and other Virginia Patriots debated the ideas - liberty, independence, and personal freedoms- that led to the founding of American democracy. After lunch we discover Yorktown. A riding tour of the Yorktown Battlefield includes Surrender Field and the Moore House. See where American independence was won. Visit the Yorktown Victory Monument and see Cornwallis' Cave, where legend has it that the English General and his staff sought refuge from the bombardment by American and French Troops.
